I Fight Dragons

I Fight Dragons

I Fight Dragons is a seriously talented and fun band that appeals to the kid inside all of us. If you’ve ever struggled to balance the need to be an adult with the urge to remain a kid, or you want to get super nostalgic and recall the moment you discovered your first favorite video game, I Fight Dragons has a song for the occasion.

Described as NES rock or chiptune, I Fight Dragons has seamlessly blended the modern sound of pop punk with decades-old electronic sound effects from classic video games.

The familiar 80s- and 90s-era video game sound bites in I Fight Dragons songs awaken the most innocent parts of our geeky souls. If they don’t, you’re too young to experience the nostalgia, but that shouldn’t detract from the enjoyability of these catchy tunes.

[Side Note -- If you’re too young to remember the crash of an NES boss explosion or the noise Sonic made when he jumped, just imagine what it’ll be like to hear a Skyrim chant or the sound of an explosion from Halo in a song 20 years from now.]

Plain and simple, I Fight Dragons is likely the most fun and energetic band you’ve heard in a long time. The thing that separates them from anything else out there is the sheer geekiness of the band’s premise. Never before has a band so seamlessly melded the world of energetic pop punk with classic video games.

I first discovered IFD when they opened for another geeky act in 2009. As they began their set, I was instantly blown away by their stage presence, the energy they emitted, and the geeky awesomeness of their setup. Check out the video below that showcases some of the amazing instruments the guys have put together over the years. If you’ve ever nerded out over the electronic workings of a controller, you’ll freak out over what the guys have rigged up. Some of their past and existing instruments include NES, SNES, NES Advantage, NES Power Pad, NES Zapper, and Guitar Hero controllers.

I Fight Dragons makes it super easy to be a committed fan. With a heavy social media presence and a special fan group called the Advance Guard, you can stay in touch and up-to-date with the band as they grow into something bigger and better every minute.

If I haven’t already convinced you to check them out, I’ll make it even easier. Simply click here to download their full-length album, Kaboom!

Feel free to check out their website, which has tons of fan extras, and keep up with them on Facebook or Twitter:
