Raheem Jarbo.
Random.
Random Beats.
Mega Ran.

A man so prolific that one name simply can’t contain him.

Perhaps best known as Mega Ran, Raheem holds a Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University. He has worked full time as a special education teacher in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as well as a middle school teacher in Phoenix, Arizona. Up until last year Raheem continued teaching while simultaneously releasing new music at an unprecedented rate.

He really hit the scene with the release of his 2007 album, titled Mega Ran, which was a tribute to the Mega Man series of games. This album received a plethora of critical acclaim, many of which dubbed the album “best of the year”. The album also caught the attention of Capcom, the distributor of the Mega Man games, who invited Mega Ran to perform at the official Capcom booth at San Diego Comic Con.

Since 2006, he has released 14 albums and been featured on various other artist’s recordings, including MC Frontalot, MC Lars and Kabuto the Python. He has also collaborated and performed with everyone from Talib Kweli to Common to The Visionaries. He has performed at SXSW three times and Nerdapalooza four times. He also returned to Comic Con in San Diego last year for another performance.

He did a European tour in July of 2011 as well as a tour of Japan with K-Murdock, DJ Asu Rock, Marcus D and Substantial in December of 2011.

His music has been featured both in film and on television, the most notable of which have occurred on Barbara Walters’ “The Ten Most Fascinating People in America” special on ABC, Portlandia, Tosh.0 and, most recently, SportsCenter. He has also contributed music to several video games, where he reteamed with Capcom to do an alternate soundtrack to Marvel vs Capcom 2. He has also been featured in several magazines including Game Informer, Nintendo Power and PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

Mega Ran will be returning to the Nerdapalooza stage this August in Orlando, FL alongside such varied acts as Math the Band, Schaffer the Darklord, YTCracker, Sci-Fried and Dual Core, as well as at least 15 to 20 other acts.

You can download his albums through his official website as well as Amazon.
